“Putina: NATO is a European Army. Some European nations pay greater percentage than US in military. Poland is at 4.7%. Us is at 3.2%.”
When did the USA become part of Europe? Let Europe have their military, pay for it themselves, and seek our support on a case-by-case basis when they go to war. You know, how this country was founded and ran for the first 175 years of its existence.
Vance’s speech described some basic stuff about freedom and democracy. The European freak out after the speech says a lot. A lot about the state of freedom in Europe.

The GDP of Europe dwarfs that of Russia. Why do the need America to fend off the Russians? Because America has offered to foot the bill. Why wouldn’t Europe love that deal?

During and after WWII, Europe was decimated and needed help. Nato has worked beautifully, imo. At the same time, WWII ended almost 80 years ago. It is fair to ask if Europe faces an enemy that it cannot handle. Europe now is able to foot the bill for it’s own defense. Let it. The US can back them if they need it, just like in both world wars.
Wanting a “peace deal” in which Russia keeps large regions of seized territory and Ukrainians under Russian control, pays no reparations to Ukraine, and prosecutes neither Putin nor his military for war crimes rewards Putin. The Cult must be so proud of that outcome since they have called for it for 3 years.
When is Putina going to explain why opposing Putin was wrong?
Bitter, what’s the alternative to a negotiated settlement? The US and Europe have spent huge amounts of money and arms to support Ukraine. And Ukraine is not close to winning. How do you believe Russia can be forced to agree to the terms you’d like.
On a moral, right v. wrong, basis, I think you are right. But, I don’t see how to accomplish your goal without direct US and European involvement (which you have ruled out).
JeffP, Big Z’s strategy is interesting. On the face of it, the one clear path to saving Ukraine as a nation is through a US-brokered deal, and irritating the US President seems counterproductive.
Maybe Trump wants Big Z to play the tough-to-hold-back pit bull to help get the best deal possible from Pooty Poot.
Ukraine should have admitted to NATO when Putin’s army was massing on the border. Now, the U.S. and Europe need to tell Putin that the military aid is going to continue and increase until he pulls back. Ukraine will have to surrender some territory (which Putina, Jan, OA, and you always supported). Putin is a cold-blooded killer so he should have no problem handing over some of his military for war crimes trials.
“Ukraine should have admitted to NATO when Putin’s army was massing on the border.” sez the Globalist-firster.
When the USSR agreed to end the COLD WAR and disolve into separate nations, the entire WEST agreed with their demand that Ukraine NEVER be admitted to NATO.
They have NEVER agreed to it. They NEVER will, just like the US will not agree to CUBA joining military alliances with Russia or China or allowing them to establish military bases there.
The only people pushing for Ukraine into NATO are neo-con globalists who claim to be fighting for democracy when they are really just seeking to justify endless wars to feed their beast (the military complex).
Bitter, see if Sherman will lend you his wayback machine. Your and the Cheneys, Boltons and Bushes are pushing goals and projects that the AMERICAN people have soundly rejected. You folks are a better fit for the DEMOCRATIC party these days. The Cheneys are leading the way.

“Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS) is working to meet the evolving needs of the community in response to recent and anticipated federal policy changes,” the organization previously said.

Of course, all the Putinistas here know that. That is why they want Ukraine to surrender and Russia to win.

LOL, revisionist history by Albertus Idioticus.
The USSR didn’t agree to to end the cold war, and it didn’t agree to break up.
It collapsed, and all the republics went their own way and became sovereign nations with borders recognized by the UN and international community.
Russia had zero rights to demand a damm thing from other sovereign nations, nor did the “west” have a right to tell Ukraine they couldn’t join NATO, that was a decision for NATO countries, nobody else.
Jason asks for something he knows can’t happen so he can whine like a 4th grader when it doesn’t. Then wants to know who he should blame for not getting what he admits is impossible.
Lol, that’s a great strategy. Go it alone! Rely on the Europeans!”
Well, let’s see.
There is still a lot of support for Ukraine in the US by both Dems and Rs in Congress. A bill supporting more aid to Ukraine would easily pass in both the House and the Senate if brought up for a vote, maybe with veto proof majorities.
If Trump wants to die on the hill of surrendering Ukraine to the Russians, let’s see how it plays in Congress.
If Trump can get a deal where Russia pulls out of at least some of the post-invasion territory and there are strong guarantees for Ukraine that would impede Russia from invading again I will consider it a win for Russia but an attainable result. The guarantees could include a buffer zone with peacekeeping foreign troops and/or placing Ukraine under the NATO protection umbrella without actually admitting it as a member.
I don’t understand why Chicon doesn’t think the only FAIR solution is for Russia to retreat to its pre-invasion borders, turn over war criminals, and pay reparations.
if he wasn’t a Putin lapdog, he would at least say this is what SHOULD happen.
The former special counsel who brought two criminal cases against President Donald Trump received $140,000 in free legal services from a prominent Washington law firm last month.
Covington & Burling provided Jack Smith with the gift of pro-bono legal assistance, Politico first reported citing a disclosure he filed last month in connection with him leaving the Justice Department.”
Jason keeps telling us, wrongly of course, that Trump and Vance are isolationists. He also wants an impossible outcome from these isolationists in negotiating a settlement of a war they had nothing to do with starting.
I want to know how much Ukraine sovereign territory Chicon thinks the Russians should have and how many million Ukrainians should now enslaved by Russia.
Trump is looking out for our best interest NOT Ukraine or Russia. Can we agree on that? Is that okay?
Calling President Trump an isolationist is a straw man…in retaking operational authority over the Panama Canal and make Greenland a national security issue that is not an isolationist approach.
Bombing the hell out of terrorist encampments in the last two weeks is not isolationist.
Jason…”How will more artillery and planes turn this around and allow Ukraine to evict Russia?”
Easy answer.
Whatever it takes.”
That is a clown reasoning.
It would take NATO soldiers dying in mass numbers on Ukrainian soil to retake the lost territory. Zelenskyy is lying about the number of dead soldiers and Trump knows the real numbers…not the MSM and Kiev Newspaper numbers that is bought and paid for by USAID.
Trump is looking out for our best interest NOT Ukraine or Russia. Can we agree on that? Is that okay?”
Not at all.
Containing Russian expansion is in OUR INTEREST.
So if Trump abandons Ukraine (not saying he will, in this I disagree with Bitter, I don’t think he wants to see Ukraine annexed under his watch) it would not be in our interest.
Isolationists like JeffP always want to pretend we have no interests beyond our beaches.
Bombing the hell out of terrorist encampments in the last two weeks is not isolationist”
LOL
Trump is an isolationist and protectionist by conviction, so is Vance, only worse.
Not everything he will do in 8 years is isolationist, I gave him credit for the Abraham Accords.
I give credit where it is due. I gave credit to Obama for not pulling out of Afghanistan. I gave Biden credit for his steadfast support for Ukraine even though both of them were horrible Presidents.
When Trump takes any action in the defense of our interests I will give him credit.
If he comes up with a peace agreement that is acceptable to Ukraine I will give him credit.
I’ve been scrolling thru the Ukraine/Russia debate today. Nothing has changed. The twin couch warriors, Jason/Bitter, continue to want Zelenskyy’s bread buttered by indefinite American aid. They refuse to acknowledge the U.S. had an administration change, mandated by the American people, to shift attention from abroad to the mounting problems we have here at home. Reforming and repairing the mangled cultural and monetary conditions we find ourself in should be prioritized over a country consuming far more aid than was ever given to protecting our own border, or taking care of our own citizens suffering from man made and natural catastrophes.
I simply don’t understand how these two can be stuck on being defiantly stupid for so long!
I seem to remember that during the last Trump administration, we started to cut Russia out of the global financial systems, but we never took the final steps.
How about we just eliminate Russia’s access to SWIFT, the Bank for International Settlements, and the Basel agreements. If they want back in, they can pull out of Ukraine.
The US wimped out last time because of moaning and bitching by the EU. This current administration might be willing to insist this time.
Furthermore, the Zelenskyy fan boys can name-call all they want – cultists, isolationists, morons – but the fiscal facts remain —-> we have an unsustainable $36 trillion deficit, paying a trillion dollar annual interest payment on that debt. Zelenskyy has acknowledged he received less than half the aid already given him, while pensions and salaries of Ukrainian officials were paid. No audits, no accountability and yet it’s just fine to keep stripping funds needed here, sending them over to a demanding, illegitimate Ukrainian president. BTW, unknown numbers of people are being killed while Zelenskyy refuses to negotiate his way out of it unless his stipulations aren’t met.
Jason/Bitterlaw are getting the living hell beat out of them here on a daily basis by the true Trump/MAGA soldiers. They are outnumbers and reduces to offering nothing other than ZZZ to counter the reality that they are no longer wanted in the Republican Party. It is very clear which side now runs the Republican Party and it is not Jason/Bitterlaw.
With Trump/Vance leading the way, it will soon be OVER for Zelensky and OVER for Ukraine. They messed around with Putin, who held on until Trump came back, and now Ukraine is finding out.
Absolutely do not want. That is just the reality of what is happening. Putin is headed towards a massive victory because Trump is President and MAGA is behind him 100 percent.

I didn’t say that. I said if Trump’s plan gets rejected by Ukraine there will still be a lot of pushback to continue aid.
Whether it will pass Congress, or survive a veto, etc. is another question.
In my view, Trump needs to make sure Ukraine is onboard with any plan or he risks chalking up a big failure.
It will better if he says no deal is possible than to announce one that won’t happen.

This from the guy who said he supported Ukraine until he read that Trump didn’t.

Jason said….”If Trump wants to die on the hill of surrendering Ukraine to the Russians, let’s see how it plays in Congress.”
But he never meant that Big Z could go over around Trump and secure funding without Trump’s support.
C’mon man, get it together.

“
True.
I doubt more aid would go through without Trump’s support.
My point is there would be a significant backlash if Trump failed to secure an agreement and then tried to abandon Ukraine.

Ignorant and stupid.
