Where is this?

Be the first to name the country, state, or territory shown in the picture below. This one is pretty easy actually. Remember the rules: You get one guess, and if after a while a new clue is given, then it will be opened up for second guesses.

  1. Ha! We should wait for Marv and Lisa to show up and talk about Midway.😁

  2. GF is correct. Midway Atoll, which is a US territory. So correct answers would have been Midway, or the USA, but NOT Hawaii.

I posted this one to raise awareness of the fact that this strategic naval base from WWII was left in pristine condition by the US Navy, but once Obama’s dept of fish and wildlife got hold of it, they have destroyed most of the historic buildings on the island through neglect.

If we had to recommission this atoll for military purposes, we would have to rebuild nearly everything.

It is still used for emergency landings for commercial flights over the Pacific. But even there not sure for how long. A government worker took the only fire truck on the island for a joyride while drunk, and destroyed it.

    Cards at bridge remained horrible.

    I came in dead last.

    High person had 5400 points, 2nd was 3400. I had 1700 even.

    *********************

Ace is 4 points, K is 3 Q is 2 and Jack is one point.

You are supposed to have 13 or more points to open bid.

Last Thursday, I had one or two hands with 13 points out of 30 hands dealt.
Today I had one or two hands with 13 points.

    One hand with 10 points.

Rest of the 30 hands I had anywhere from one to 8 points.

    *****************

Statistically, you should be getting opening count (of 13 points or higher) over 33% of the time.

Thurs. and today combined I had opening count 6.6% of the time.

I blame it on the planets aligning.

The number of personnel who report directly to him is approximately the same as the number of coaches and staff who reported directly to Nick Saban at the University of Alabama.

-One of the flaming liberals, in a speech back in September, endorsed the Republican candidate for President, and his reasons that he gave, in my opinion, were rational, well thought out, and most importantly, were true. That, plus the fact that he is not making policy, leaves me assured that his more radical positions will be kept out of the job.

“We know what happened last time. Trump went in trusting Republicans. They set him up good. They vouched for Pence and General Mattis and later in his term Bill Barr. While awaiting his appointees to be confirmed, he just let Obama’s deputies run the show.

That cost him a month or more in trying to get his government started.

This time, President Trump is going forward with or without a Cabinet. He not only is prepared for this, he wants Senate Democrats to drag their feet because the slower they walk, the more he can get done. It is paradoxical but most things in Official Washington are counter-intuitive.”

LOL… that is “Deep State”? Thanks for making it clear that is no Deep State.

Nobody disputes government has a “vested interest” in protecting and enlarging itself, that is true at all times and in all countries.

And nobody denies government agencies are rife with ideological leftists who use their positions to influence or implement policies in line with their ideology. 8 years of Clinton, 8 years of Obama, and 4 years of Biden have consequences.

But Deep implies secret, and State implies an organization. So Deep State implies a secret organized cabal operating within the government, a “super government” so to speak. Organizations require leadership, structure, communications, otherwise it is not an organization.

    Definition of “state”

nation or territory considered as an organized political community under one government”

Some people use “Administrative State” rather than Deep State. If you say that the Federal government is a entrenched bureaucracy as a whole intent on protecting whatever privileges it has and continually growing if left unchecked, and that is an “Administrative State” it is closer to the mark than Deep State.

There are some old Federal employees if they remember the McCarthy Era.

And I hope they don’t run out of closets…..and mothers.

“By the end of the week, some employees said wearily that they did not know how long they could hang on. Many described conditions as reminiscent of the McCarthy era, and were despondent to see how quickly their office’s leaders acquiesced.

At the Department of Labor, staff members watched a colleague who had been recently hired to a civil service position be escorted out because she was a former political appointee. One employee said her manager required her to scrub the website not only of the words “diversity, equity and inclusion,” as the executive order required, but also of references to “underserved” and “marginalized communities.” Afterward, she said, she went into a closet, called her mother and wept.”
