  5. if it was possible to put the fires out NOW, why weren’t they put out back when they started, and before 10,000 structures and dozens of people were incinerated?

In FL, when DeSantis was informed of a pending hurricane, he put all first responders and recovery assets on stand by so they could immediately tackle the disaster. In CA, when Mayor Bass, Gov Newsom and other political officials knew high-powered Santa Ana winds would subject the dry LA area to fire eruptions, Bass went to Africa, 100 fire trucks were left in disrepair, no extra fireman were put in areas susceptible to fires because of slashes in overtime pay, the number of regular fire fighters were cut back, and water sources like the closest reservoir to Pacific Palisades was left empty and off like for a year because of a minor repair not being done.

It was all because of dysfunctional incompetence by the leadership of LA and the state of CA.

This includes establishing full operational and administrative control over Belarus’ armed forces during peacetime and permanent Russian military basing in Belarus; a political union with a Kremlin-dominated federated government with a common set of federal laws and institutions for Belarusians and Russians to be governed as a single polity; and a fully integrated economy complete with common markets, free labor flows, unified laws, and a currency union. Putinistas like Chicon love the meme that Russia “is weak militarily” and “not a threat” because of their difficulties in Ukraine.

This sophomoric laughable argument does not take into account two major fact.

    1. It is not only by military means that Russia is pursuing its expansionist agenda. It did not fire a shot in Belarus, the annexation is a product of economic and political influence AND meddling in Belarus’ internal affairs to achieve their objective. This same effort is going on in Georgia, Chechnya, the stans, Moldova, etc. as well as continuing threat directed at the Baltic States, Finland, etc.
    2. The present war in Ukraine was not something Russia was prepared for, intended to pursue or wanted. The Russian plan was to decapitate the Ukrainian leadership by taking over the airbase near Kyiv, landing enough troops to take over the seat of government and install a puppet, followed by occupation of the city via the “convoy” coming from the Russian border to the North. Once the plan failed, the convoy was a sitting duck, and the Russians had to pull back into Russia and attack Ukraine in a conventional war on other fronts against entrenched defenders with much better knowledge of the terrain and how to fight on it. Had the plan worked, Russia would have annexed Ukraine with minimal losses.

Russia is a formidable foe on all fronts, nuclear, conventional, economically, and politically. Putin’s ambition, stated publicly, is to use all these means to expand Russia’s territory and influence.

-Since we buy used equipment (not tractors, forklifts), we do not have to deal with these types of issues.

I know that we have actually bought pretty good used machinery BECAUSE of this issue, as the original owner didn’t want to deal with the high cost of fixing the piece with the registered repair shop, and we were able to get some good units that have lasted a long time.

That said, I hope the person who buys the equipment is ultimately allowed to fix the machine with whomever they want. Of course, any warranty would expire if they choose that route, and any recalls would not have to be honored by the manufacturer.
