So the unqualified LA Mayor who hired an unqualified fire chief, then stripped the LA FD of funding and water, has now fired the unqualified fire chief as the scapegoat to hide her own incompetence.
Droughts are common. Wind is common. Fire is common.
What is NOT common is incompetent leadership who gutted the fire department funding, turned off the water, and staffed the leadership with DEI employees.

The culprit….’powerlines. Hung on wooded structure’.
The culprit….’powerlines. Hung on wooded structure’.
And those powerlines were hung on a wood structure because the contractor was too distraught and grieved by the climate crisis to focus on his work and do the job right. And had Republicans not blocked action on climate change, that contractor would have been focused on his job, and the powerlines would have been hung properly, and there would have been no fire.
Unfortunately, you can look back 50 years and protectionism and isolationism is the ONE thing Trump has always been consistent on.
Maybe he has “evolved” from supporting Democrats, saying Dem economic policies are better, supporting partial birth abortion, universal government paid healthcare, etc. but he has never budged from the failed AFL-CIO protectionist agenda and his ostrich view of geopolitics.
And his (clumsy) desire to purchase Greenland is hardly proof otherwise.
If you want to look for an example where you can argue that Trump overcame his isolationist instincts, that would be the Abraham Accords, a real win in international diplomacy and for which I give him a lot of credit for.
As for Greenland, the Danes made a strategic mistake if they wanted to keep it.
Only about 8% of the population of only 56,000 is Danish. Denmark could have “colonized” Greenland by offering incentives for Danes to move there and thus ensure any vote for independence would fail. As it is now, most of the population are native people with little loyalty to Denmark.
Even without Trump’s ambition, Greenland would have eventually cut most ties with Denmark and become independent.
The population is small enough that they could probably be bought off. Give each resident $1 million and you can have Greenland for a mere $56 billion, half of current aid to Ukraine.
Unlike Biden’s FEMA, who threw 2000 Helene victims out in the cold in NC, Trump gets involved with people and their issues before he’s even inaugurated. Because he cares more about the American people in the time of their own need, rather than redirecting funds and aid to Iran, Ukraine etc., it makes him an isolationist in some people’s stuck-on-stupid perspective. However, for those of us who appreciate a leader’s attention more on home-grown problems, his policies are right where they should be – helping the American people.
Here in CA the Palisades fire has moved on to the NE, now threatening to jump the 405 fwy making the enclaves of Encino, Brentwood, and residential areas around UCLA vulnerable. Altadena is estimated to have lost 7000 homes and businesses. Pacific Palisades is unrecognizable and seems almost completely incinerated. Our city government leaders, though, have so far been relatively worthless except for their sympathetic lip service. One thing for sure is that Mayor Bass is no isolationist, as her interests and concerns were more concentrated in Africa than here when the fires broke out.
Carter was worse. Biden was incompetent and controlled by radical leftists. Carter meant to do all the bad things he did. The things he did wrong were remarkable considering he was a graduate of Annapolis and served on nuclear submarines.
Carter was indeed a poor President. He did inherit increasing inflation that wasn’t helped by the Nixon wage and price controls. Carter also appointed Paul Volker to head the Federal Reserve, while knowing his program to raise interest rates would cause further pain.
Biden did absolutely nothing positive, except his half-arsed efforts in Ukraine. That’s probably why he thinks Carter was worse.
Mike Waltz, President Trump’s choice to lead the National Security Council, said in an interview published Thursday that all current civil service members of the NSC who are detailed from another agency are expected to be out of the building as soon as Trump is sworn in.

Biden could have done a lot more for Ukraine. You take what you can get, but he should have authorized the use of offensive weapons a lot sooner and he should have organized a much better support coalition for Ukraine. He should have appointed a “Ukraine czar” to pressure the Europeans to give Ukraine more support and coordinate the aid better. Also to sell the importance of this aid better, although the GOP leadership did a horrible job in that respect too.
Only Cultists with 100% litmus tested verified loyalty to Trump will be allowed to post. No dissent will be tolerated, and anything Trump does or says will be viewed as final and beyond discussion, let alone criticism.
