I have never been and will never go to LA so I do not know the city. Is the fire likely to stay in the suburbs/outskirts or will it devastate the city itself.

And some are still alive because we donated old obsolete surplus fire equipment that saved them from fires caused by their hero Putin’s bombing of civilian targets like homes, schools and hospitals.

Most of the fires are caused by flying embers. When they land on roofs made of combustible asphalt shingles (the most common roof type) they easily start fires on the roofs and with the winds and lack of water it is almost impossible to put out. Once a house starts burning on a street, the flying embers go to the roof of the next house and so on down the street.
Concrete structures, metal roofs, etc. are less vulnerable to flying embers so most buildings, including apt buildings.,will not catch fire from flying embers.
Also despite the horrendous loss of over 1,000 homes, maybe 2,000 by now, that is a very small percentage of total homes. There are over half a million detached houses in LA county, about 90k 1 unit attached house and 10k mobile homes.
