Got around to checking the satellite images of Muan International Airport in South Korea, and as expected, there was nothing on the other side of that wall except a grassy area and a road. No wall, and that plane would have skidded through the grass to a stop and everyone lives. Instead they put up a wall to keep the planes within the airport property. The wall worked.

The video doesn’t show how far down the runway he touched down but since that runway is almost 10k feet he probably didn’t touch down at the beginning.

Actually that may have happened if at much higher speed. But you can see the plane had already slowed down considerably by the time it hit the wall. Hitting the wall at a higher speed might have disintegrated the wall and allowed some or most of the fuselage to survive to the other side.
No, I don’t recommend hitting walls at higher speeds, but in this case maybe it would have helped. Or maybe it would have killed everyone instead of almost everyone.

I had the same thought Walt. Put up a chain link fence that would easily give way if struck by an aircraft, but strong enough to keep people out. A thick cinder block wall was overkill.
The reason the plane wasn’t landing at the right spot was due to a bird strike. So apparently the pilot was just trying to land any way he could, and had too much elevation on the runway approach and no way to pull up and try again.

Tina is by far the record holder for making up statements nobody at HHR ever made, although Chicon has tried hard to compete.
Janzam has the least empathy for the suffering in Ukraine and is the most supportive of Putin and his war crimes. Considering she is supposedly a nurse, that gives her an edge.
I think Chicon comes out ahead as the biggest liar in the overall category, so that should count heavily in his favor.
You have your work cut out for you.

From one year ago, my predictions for 2024:
Here are my predictions for 2024:
“1) Biden will not be the nominee. He will go through the primary process to secure all the delegates needed for the nomination, but sometime in May or June…”
— I went on to predict it would be Obama working through his wife as surrogate to get around the third term prohibition. So that was a bit off, but Obama was no doubt influencing what was going on with Kamala as replacement.
“2) Anti-semitism will increase worldwide as Israel refuses to stop chasing down and eliminating Hamas, and destroying their infrastructure that was designed around wiping Israel off the map. Jewish synagogues around the world will be targeted for violence, arson, and protests. Biden will sever diplomatic ties with Israel and declare them a terrorist state.”
–okay, my hyperbole went too far as usual, but the thrust of what I was saying has come true.
“3) Christianity will increasingly be persecuted in 2024. Both in the USA and around the world. Speech will be compelled here in our country, and when Christians refuse to use that speech, they will be fined and jailed. When the case goes to the SCOTUS, Roberts will be the one to find some way out of it, to let the lower court ruling stand, essentially ending free speech in America.”
–This was a bad prediction only because it would take years to roll out, and there was no way it could be all accomplished in just one year. However, Christian persecution around the world did increase in 2024.
“4) Ukraine will finally collapse, and Putin will put a stooge in power there as he gradually takes it over.”
–Somehow Ukraine is still hanging around, though they are far from safe.
“5) Biden has not just let into our country a rogue terrorist here or there, he has let in entire terror organizations. Therefore, there will be a major terror attack here in the USA in 2024. It will be a simultaneous attack in multiple places around the country, killing tens of thousands. This will result in chaos, broken supply lines, and Biden’s incompetence will make the problems much worse.”
–Thankfully was wrong about this one, but that doesn’t mean terrorists are not here, ready to unleash terror.
“6) Biden will get us involved directly in as many wars as possible so that he can then use the argument that the country cannot change horses (elect Trump) during such a crisis. He might go so far as to give an executive order to cancel the elections.”
–thankfully his mind was too far gone to realize such a scheme.
“7) The above situations will result in an economic recession that will quickly turn into a depression as unemployment will soar as the cost of doing business will leave most employers cutting payroll, not adding or expanding.”
–I must have been really gloomy while making these predictions. Many businesses did close and the economy has been devastated by Biden.
“8) By the end of 2024, people will look back at how wonderful 2023 was by comparison.”
–I should have said 2016-2020 by comparison.
“9) The Mets will still be awful, and the Phillies will win the world series.”
— was dead wrong on this one, thankfully.
10) There will be one former HHR member who will re-appear on Bitter’s site and become a regular again.
–I believe there were a few that re-appeared.

DW- I think that your prediction regarding Christians being persecuted in the U.S. will not come to pass but a worse thing may happen- Christianity will increasingly ignored as older believers die off and are not replaced.
