“The Louisiana Republican is discussing dropping $100 billion in disaster aid plus other attachments and instead passing a “clean CR” — then dealing with the other issues in the new year, according to two Republicans with knowledge of the conversations. In addition to disaster aid, that would mean dropping $30 billion for farmers, and a one-year extension of the farm bill, among other items, at least for now.”
-The next election is November 2026. There is ZERO URGENCY to do anything right now.
Sounds like the ridiculous and extraordinarily expensive Continuing Resolution, PLUS, is dying fast, but can anyone imagine passing it without either terminating, or extending, the Debt Ceiling guillotine coming up in June? Unless the Democrats terminate or substantially extend Debt Ceiling now, I will fight ‘till the end. This is a nasty TRAP set in place by the Radical Left Democrats! They are looking to embarrass us in June when it comes up for a Vote. The people that extended it, from September 28th to June 1st, should be ashamed of themselves. It was political malpractice! Also, the Communist Global Engagement Center, a project of Crooked Hillary Clinton, should not in any way, shape, or form be extended and, the shielding of the very corrupt J6 Unselect Committee of Political Losers and Thugs would be suicidal for any Republican approving it. Likewise, this is not a good time for Congress to be asking for pay increases. Hopefully, you’ll be entitled to such an increase in the near future when we, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Watched a discussion on C-Span about the 1968 election. Humphrey was disappointed Johnson didn’t campaign for him and there is speculation LBJ wanted Nixon to win. There was also a discussion that Nixon and Reagan had a deal that if Nixon was not clearly winning the nomination before the California primary, Reagan would enter. Wallace tried to play spoiler but most of his strength was in the South.
“No, they don’t have to be bipartisan. The House can simply pass a bill that continues spending at present levels for a few months, with no other provisions. If the Democrats who still control the Senate for the next month want to hold out for unrelated concessions, they can decline to pass the bill. Then the government will “shut down.” Who cares? Let the government stay “shut down” until Senate Democrats relent, or the new Congress assembles. Democrats will mind that more than Republicans will.”
Sorry, that last line “Democrats will mind that more than Republicans will.” really struck a chord with me. Seems like that is a pretty easy reason to be steadfast, yet Republicans in Congress have a tough time doing it.
These lower level collegiate bowl games are absolutely insufferable to watch. I’d rather observe grass grow for three hours than watch this stuff. It is self inflicting torture. And whose idea was to put these games on mid afternoon on mid week days featuring a couple of 6-6 teams. Just look at the on site attendance….8,000 for the Veterans Bowl, 12,000 for the Coffee Frisco Bowl and about 15,000 for the Boco Raton Bowl.
You’ll have more people attending meaningless mid afternoon, mid week day spring training games in either Florida or Arizona.
If the gubment shuts down this is bad. No money to the grifter, along with obsolete weapons that don’t cost anything. Also, no money to process illegals. We need them all.
Presidents past, if they had the skills and power, “went over the heads” of legislators by speaking directly to the people. We saw an example of this yesterday, with the added power of Musk and Vivek on social media.
We’ll see what they accomplish, but there’s a solid chance it will be better than the pig they tried to sneak through.

There was a campaign video of Nixon warmly engaged in conversation with a WWI veteran. Nixon was a brilliant but flawed man.

I just received an e-mail that said the GOP desperately needs money for the 2026 Senate elections. Wow. Less than a 2 month break from fundraising.
