Vic is a nice guy, but his basic premise is wrong. It is based on some romantic and unrealistic notion that we need to get along and respect each other’s views and find common ground. This is not the US Senate where supposedly those lofty goals and compromise are supposed to lead to legislation being passed.
I call a moron a moron and a liar a liar. I am not here to “respect” a nurse with zero empathy who supports a bloody thirsty ex-KGB thug and his monstrous atrocities and war crimes in Ukraine. Or someone who calls someone leading his country against Russian aggression a “grifter”. Or someone who comes here several times a day to lie about things nobody here ever said. Should I respect someone who calls himself a conservative but has long ago sold out every conservative principle he pretended to have. Or an idiot who spent weeks insulting everyone here for trying to save the site but is still here?
I never called Vic a moron, even though we don’t always agree. Or Walt, who doesn’t like me and attacks me frequently. Why? Because I admire Walt, I value his contributions here, I think he is a true patriot, and I actually am sorry he doesn’t like me. I have frequent arguments with Bitter but I don’t call him a moron. Never said that HHR was great under Dave. I said it was better for a variety of reasons. If he did not monitor and ban comments/posters than the evidence would point to it is a lack of better content and more posters and traffic due to people not wanting to watch Bitter and Jason’s Brokeback Mountain Redux.

Everyone knows I have been posting for years advocating for electric vehicles in the Post Office on account it would save the world and halt the rising seas.
Of course the guy advocating for it, Postmaster General DeJoy, is a Trump appointee. Yes, I know, the “Board” approved him, but the fact is he is a Trump appointee. Has he made Tina’s RINO list yet?

USPS made changes in WV, including my area of WV.
It USED to be I could mail a check to pay a business several blocks away and the business would get that piece of mail the next day.
Because the workers at the local post office would sort out the mail that is local (in this county and next) with a 25401, 25402, etc. etc. zip code. BUT the D.C. top officials decided to no longer allow that to be done and required all mail to be shipped around to big sorting centers.
NOW, my check has to go from Martinsburg WV, to sorting facility in Baltimore MD, to a sorting facility in Harrisburg PA, and then trucked back to Martinsburg. All this movement of my little piece of mail leads to it being delivered about 8-10 days after it was mailed.
The reverse is also true. Business mails a bill to me. 8-10 days for it to get to me. I send a check thru mail, 8-10 more days for the check to get to the business.
SOMETIMES, the mail has come so slowly that I then have to pay the late fee for that bill.
The D.C. officials have now backed down a little and do now allow the local postal workers to sort out and keep mail addressed to their own ZIP CODE to deliver the next day. For example the Kearneysville, WV PO can keep and not ship to Baltimore and then Harrisburg any mail with the Kearneysville 25414 ZIP

The argument against it is that most of the rural post offices are big money losers, for obvious reasons, and the first thing a private company would do is to close them.
But as an example, in my area there are about 5 post offices within just a few miles of each other in small towns. Maybe at least 2 could be closed without major service disruption, but of course the local community would squeal to their representative.
The P.O. should eliminate Saturday delivery, that would save big bucks. Rural routes don’t need everyday delivery, how about 3 times a week.
You could do a partial privatization, with the funds from privatizing more profitable areas subsidizing the Post Office to fund other areas.
Or you could privatize certain services, maybe even delivery in some areas (already done in some areas by private contractors).
