  1. Trump announces pardons for January 6th prisoners, excoriates the feds for placing them in very rough conditions. “I’m going to be acting very quicky… first day. I’m looking first day. These people have been – how long has it been, 3 or 4 years?” “They’re in a filthy, disgusting place, that shouldn’t even be allowed to be open.”

  5. I will support a case by case review of the J6 rioters. Violent offenders should not be pardoned, their sentences should be commuted if excessive. It seems like that is what is going to happen:

Asked if Trump is seriously considering blanket pardons for all January 6 defendants, Trump transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told CNN in an email, “President Trump will make pardon decisions on a case-by-case basis.

If Trump issues any “blanket pardon” then he is no better than the Democrats, same “ends justify the means” BS.

What attack on law enforcement officers?

According to Chicon, the officers “invited” the rioters to attack them.

“Hit me, hit me” they cried. Some even showed the rioters how to use the pepper spray effectively. Others handed flag poles to the rioters so they could bash the officer’s heads with them.

I think once elections are resumed in Ukraine Zelenskyy would have a difficult time being re-elected, as his popularity has declined after so many years of war. Furthermore, if or when Ukrainian elections are held again, it would be because Ukraine and Russia have agreed to negotiate terms with each other, not for a new leader to tell their adversary to F off. During the first year of the war Russia was getting crushed, making it a favorable time for the Ukrainians to take the lead in peace talks. Now, the reverse has happened, and Ukraine doesn’t have the leverage or public support to make too many demands.

    1. Putin invaded Ukraine because of “NATO”. Putin knows NATO is a defensive alliance and in any case Ukraine was nowhere near being admitted to NATO. NATO is bigger and stronger since the invasion so if that was the purpose it backfired bigly.
    2. Putin only wanted to secure the disputed section of the Donbas. If that was so why has he invaded large swaths of the rest of Ukraine. It is a lie, his intention was (and is) to annex Ukraine as part of his “Greater Russia” “New USSR” strategy.
    3. There was a “deal” that the west rejected, “forcing” Putin to continue the war. There was never any deal. There was a demand from Putin for Ukraine to surrender and give up its sovereignty, in essence becoming a disarmed vassal of Russia. This demand was rightfully rejected by the Ukraine, Europeans and the US.

I would rather he had gone to the Red Sox and use the $50M a year on two players that might add up to what he would BUT, with that said, adding him to the line up at 26 means the core of the Mets will be together for at least the next five years. Nimmo (who I love. He plays the game hard and the right way. I think he will continue to get better) Lindor (who I hated when they signed and now am grateful). combined with Vientos who has 40HR potential and a decent farm system with the fireplug energizer bunny Jet Williams and two sluggers coming up, means they should be competitive for a decade.

I hope they re-sign Alonso who I think will be better not having to carry the load, and Corbin Burns to head the rotation, then two more bullpen arms.

When you think about it, they paid Sherzer $43M a year, and Verlander $43M a year to suck, I guess $50M for a guy you know will have an OBP of ,420 or higher, will hit 35 HR’s and score 120 runs isn’t that bad.

  108. btw remember the old Seattle DH, Edgar Martinez hit over .300, slugged over .500 and regularly drove in 100 runs while over 40 years old as a DH. Soto is a unique hitter who should age well.

Given the Mets struggles at the DH spot, being able to put him there at times and get better defense in Right Field might make them a truly tough team to beat.

BTW, Ive suffered my whole life as a Mets fan…let me rejoice at least a day before everyone trashes the signing!!!

  110. Exactly….I hope this doesn’t trigger those afraid to not trust The Man….

“I wrote not long ago about the consequences in Germany after Reunification when the Stasi records weren’t successfully destroyed and the German people got hold of them. I suspect that recollection has a lot to do with why so many entrenched bureaucrats are so opposed to Gabbard, Ratcliffe, Hegseth, and Patel. ”
