Nah. Austin, Milley, etc. certainly. But there are hundreds of generals and admirals that have immense knowledge of what our defense needs are and they provide vital input to the defense industry.
This idiocy that the military should not be involved in the defense industry is more of the defund law enforcement idiocy.

As I have stated before, I hope Trump takes advice from Colonels and ranks lower than that.
I neglected to say that was a proposal from a man I know through the Boy Scouts, who was stationed in both Afghanistan (2x) and Iraq, as well as periods of time in Italy, Japan and So Korea. He advocated not taking advice from generals, as the majority of those he dealt with had gotten there through kissing arse, not in battle.

I just think he is completely unqualified for the position and his tenure in the House as one of the Freedom (not) Caucus hostage takers tells me he is not a serious pick. The one good thing is that we are finally rid of him in Congress.
If Trump can get him confirmed he can get anyone confirmed. Let’s see.

Most generals and admirals in our military are highly trained professionals.

I think casting all “Generals” into the same basket as the few DEI ones that Biden and Obama found is myopic in thinking NYC. This time I have to side with Jason.
The size and scope of the military and the defense industry is massive, and someone needs to fully understand how it operates, what its needs our (our military) and how to accomplish it. I would argue (as a soldier who served, and someone who has operated for a long time within the “field”) that a lower level soldier (i.e. LTC, Major, Captain and below) does not have the institutional knowledge to be effective in that role. And btw, no offense to any Lt. Col here, but that rank is for lifers who couldn’t become full birds, which is the single hardest rank in the Military (or at least Army) to attain.
