According to this about 10k provisionals were counted in Philadelphia, and Casey is winning them 5.5 x 1. The good news is the 3 deadenders are getting about 8% of the provisionals, much higher than their overall vote.
IF that is half of the provisionals in Philly then Casey will only net about 6500 more votes.
Silverhack discovers that Rs were nicer to him than Dems…
And there was an asymmetry. Republicans are generally happy when you agree with them partway or half the time. Admittedly, the sorts of Republicans who encounter our work are not a representative sample, probably being on the moderate side — though you can find plenty of Trump supporters in the Silver Bulletin comments section.
Democrats, however — and here, I’m not referring so much to Silver Bulletin subscribers but in the broader universe online — often get angry with you when you only halfway agree with them. And I really think this difference in personality profiles tells you a little something about why Trump won: Trump was happy to take on all comers, whereas with Democrats, disagreement on any hot-button topic (say, COVID school closures or Biden’s age) will have you cast out as a heretic. That’s not a good way to build a majority, and now Democrats no longer have one.
BL- I was in Philly several years ago for some training. I was on the outskirts somewhere, little time to sightsee. Secretary of Defense has “access to our nuclear weapon”? Who knew?
“Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman of New York told CNN’s Erin Burnett, “I’m shocked. And this is exactly what we worried about, and we warned about Donald Trump, which is that he is going to appoint unqualified loyalists to shape the government into his own personal fiefdom.” Goldman added, “I appreciate Mr. Hegseth’s service in our armed forces but being a serviceman, it does not make you qualified to lead the department of defense and to have access to our nuclear weapons.”
Begich is in excellent shape. 38,000 votes counted yesterday and Peltola only gained 583 votes. they estimate maybe 32,000 votes left. Begich is up 9,550, and he should gain at least 4,000 votes during the RCV reallocation based on the earlier analysis of counted votes by cinyc at RRH.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A man who worked for the U.S. government has been charged with leaking classified information assessing Israel’s earlier plans to attack Iran, according to court papers filed Wednesday.
The man, identified as Asif William Rahman, was arrested by the FBI this week in Cambodia and was due to make his first court appearance in Guam.”
i saw that joy reid video. She makes Tucker Carlson seem like a centrist. Part of me wonders if it’s a schtick to enhance her reputation on the left, and solidify her job, or does she really believe the crazy crap that comes from her mouth.
None would have won, all too beholden to the far left and would have had the same issues as Kamala.
A generic centrist Dem might have had a chance, but there really aren’t any. Shapiro might have faked it but too Jewish for the Dem base. The KY Governor might have faked it but not enough name recognition.
The magnitude of the win makes me think the Dems didn’t have anyone with a winning message.
No third party candidate takes from only one side. Clinton would have easily cleared 50% against Dole without Perot. This article claims he would have gotten 53% against HW Bush in 92.
Silver lining the Thune choice: Message sent that Trump is not going to have free rein. If the electorate were to perceive that, we might see the pendulum swing the other way in mid-terms.
I think Thune will be fine. To be honest, it’s probably the best thing for Trump long term, having Thune over Scott. First of all, wasn’t it Scott who unilaterally released his “plan” which I think cost us seats in 2022.
Second, by having Thune there, rather than Scott, it provides a check and balance for Trump. Some of his more outlandish things may not get through with Thune.
More importantly, the Senate is a collegial body, designed to be a body that is built around consensus and working together. it is not meant to be a rubber stamp. There is a reason the framers made the election of Senators for six years. They are “thinkers” not “reactors”…
I was ok with Thune or Cornyn, looks like Cornyn only lost by 5 votes on the second round.
Those that call Thune a RINO are astounding hypocrites, Thune has been an actual Republican AND conservative for about 30 years more than Trump.
Thune understands the Senate and won’t let it turn into a circus, which I think is what would have happened with Rick Scott.
And it is good that there is a message here than Trump is not going to have free reign, Thune is neither a protectionist nor an isolationist.
Musk has been perfect so far in this election cycle, but he ended that good run yesterday with his “Thune is the choice of the Democrats” BS. As the R caucus proved, Thune is actually the choice of elected Republicans.
Mitch McConnell has been a great leader for Rs in the Senate for decades, if Thune can emulate him we can be very thankful.
McConnell spent decades outfoxing the Dems as both Majority and Minority leader. He is responsible for a huge amount of wins for conservatives over the years.
And thanks to him, we don’t have Merrick Garland on SCOTUS and have a 3 seat conservative majority, the value of which cannot be even close to being quantified.
“And thanks to him, we don’t have Merrick Garland on SCOTUS and have a 3 seat conservative majority, the value of which cannot be even close to being quantified.”
-Ok, we can agree on this.
Of course, there is verifiable evidence that Mitch did his job here!
“Mitch McConnell has been a great leader for Rs in the Senate for decades, if Thune can emulate him we can be very thankful.”
-Seriously? A leader?
How?
Newt Gingrich was a leader back in the early 90’s……and then let his ego get in the way, along with many House members wanting to get “their share” of the always-growing pie.
“McConnell spent decades outfoxing the Dems as both Majority and Minority leader. He is responsible for a huge amount of wins for conservatives over the years.”
-Have you taken a look at the size of the federal budget, deficit, along with the quality of governance coming out of Washington D.C.?
If this is “outfoxing the Dems” then God help us if we ever get someone “less of a leader” than Mitch.
Dear Lord, please send some sanity to the middle of PA where llamas congregate.
Gaetz hated by both sides of aisle, along with the mainstream liberal press in Washington D.C……….the place where deficits are upwards of $35 trillion and counting……..but Gaetz is the problem.
I’d say that Trump should get his people in, just like I will work with ThuneTheBufoone
Source in room where House Republicans are waiting to start leadership elections tells me there were AUDIBLE GASPS when Rep. MATT GAETZ was announced as President-elect Trump’s pick for Attorney General.
Matt Gaetz is a controversial choice for such an important administrative slot of AG. I know most of you don’t like him. His pluses are he comes from a red, Republican governed state and has been loyal to the president through the highs and lows. I don’t think he’s a “moron,” like many of you called Vance at the get go. However, he is brash, more than willing to create chaos in order to drive a goal home. IMO, the DOJ does need to be thinned out and restructured. But, Goetz might go too far.
“And Trump’s evil robot hand signed all spending bills from 2017 to January 20, 2021.”
-Always stated that was his biggest fault…….did you miss those posts, Bitterlaw.
Of course, the “really conservative, small-government Republicans” like Paul Ryan and Mitch wrote those spending bills and sent them to the President…….or is there a different method that Schoolhouse Rock didn’t do a show on?
I am torn on Gaetz. He is a boorish jerk. Sometimes it takes a boorish jerk. I guess we will see if he can make his case and get approved. If he made too many enemies needlessly, then he will get shot down and have only himself to blame. If he makes it, I will hope he does a good job. If he doesn’t make it, I won’t feel too sorry for him.
Merrick Garland has been a disastrous AG. There are some pretty prominent Republicans who voted for him, including the new Senate Majority Leader. Might difficult to explain a Yea vote for Garland and not one for Gaetz.
And with that a full ONE-THIRD of McCormick’s lead just two days ago, has been evaporated, without Philly apparently admitting they are using up any of what they have left.
REPORT: “Trump is taunting his critics with three highly controversial picks for three of the most important jobs in the land” – Axios Gaetz, Gabbard and Hegseth.
I believe McCormick will win. If he was going to be the 50th vote, they would fight harder and his lead would be gone already. This is just a show to make Dems think they are still fighting. McCormick has the lawyers and money to win this.
Trump is always his worse enemy. He could have picked a dozen people who would have been less controversial than Gaetz and still gotten what he wanted out of the DOJ.
There have been serious, qualified individuals nominated to posts, like Rubio or Stefanik. Eric Schmitt would be a solid choice for AG. But Dem opinions on Gaetz aren’t that interesting. The good ones will come from my GOP colleagues to justify a vote for that jerkoff.
Even mild-mannered newsman John Solomon says if Gaetz can get thru the nominating process he will be a “transformational” AG. Lately when the MSM heads explode on something it seems like whatever it is, or what person they hate, is a good choice for the country.
Collins is already a no. I am sure Murkoswki also. So just need 2 more to put this bad idea to rest. Maybe if enough Rs announce beforehand they won’t vote him Trump can pull this nomination and stop the bleeding.
Apparently “irregularities” are showing up in the senate race in WI after a ballot dump in the wee hours of the morning. Eric Hovde (sp) is complaining about this. A similar situation happened in NV to Sam Brown.
Great leader McConnell kept Garland from SCOTUS. There was really no good argument not to vote for him for AG, or do you think Biden would have picked someone “better”.
Besides, Garland is much more qualified than Gaetz, we just don’t like his politics, which is different.
Was voting YEA for Garland one of those instances where Mitch “outfoxed” Chuckie?”
Yes.
There were probably some “Gaetzes” in the Dem party they could have nominated. In the end, Garland took too long to indict Trump and allowed Trump to delay the trials. He could have been a lot worse.
Nothing will happen in WI or NV, the margin is too large to change. Not to say they couldn’t have been stolen, just that 20k votes is too high a margin.
Same reason Casey will lose in PA, too, no matter what judge Elia finds.

on another subject, after running numbers I believe Trump will end up with about 77M votes and Kamalawannalaya will end up with about 75M votes.
A 2M vote win in the electoral college, for a Republican, and especially Trump, is something I never thought I would see.
And yes, had it been Biden, Trump would have been approaching or surpassed 400+ electoral votes

One pick I do not get – Noem at DHS.

Well, it appears he’ll get at least one vote.
JUST IN: Senator Markwayne Mullin indicates he is open to voting for Matt Gaetz as Attorney General.
The comment from Mullin comes after he has spoken out publically against Gaetz.
Tapper: Are you going to vote for Matt Gaetz?
Mullin: I completely trust President Trump’s decision-making on this…

Merrick Garland has been a disastrous AG. There are some pretty prominent Republicans who voted for him, including the new Senate Majority Leader. Might difficult to explain a Yea vote for Garland and not one for Gaetz.

Actually, no, it is the job of the Senate to approve his picks or not, nothing says “he should get his picks”

There are 82,000 votes left according to NBC.
IF they all counted AND Casey got 70% he would net 57400 and McCormick would net 24600.
Add that to his lead 26500 and he loses.

U.S. Senator John Fetterman
@SenFettermanPA

Yes.
There were probably some “Gaetzes” in the Dem party they could have nominated. In the end, Garland took too long to indict Trump and allowed Trump to delay the trials. He could have been a lot worse.

Thune should tell Biden NOW Gaetz doesn’t have the votes. Better now than drag this out for the same result later.

Nothing will happen in WI or NV, the margin is too large to change. Not to say they couldn’t have been stolen, just that 20k votes is too high a margin.
Same reason Casey will lose in PA, too, no matter what judge Elia finds.

Or conversely, Thune could do a head count. If he thinks Gaetz can get 50 votes, fine.
