Come on, Vic, you slow b@st@rd! Where are you? Waiting for the Mets to win again? (I kid! Not sure who I want to face after LA deals with the Padres…which they probably won’t.)
On that note, I’m hoping for a KC-Detroit matchup in the AL; tired of seeing the Yankees Cleveland appearing over and over. I’m very grateful that Houston was pushed out early on, no love for them after 2017.

“The American Muslim 2024 Election Task Force condemned the appearance, referring to Cheney as a “torture defender” and pointing out that Harris is alienating key demographic groups.
The task force, a coalition of Muslim political organizations, slammed Harris in a press release for platforming Cheney, referring to her support for policies associated with the Bush-Cheney administration, including the use of torture in interrogations.
“Vice President Harris should have never hosted a campaign event alongside Liz Cheney, an anti-Muslim bigot and far-right war hawk who continues to openly endorse the crime of torture, including waterboarding,” the coalition declared. They further stated that “the Harris campaign’s decision to platform Cheney is an insult to every American who worked to oppose the Bush-Cheney administration’s criminal policies and to everyone around the world who died due to those policies.”
The coalition argued that “Liz Cheney’s current opposition to Donald Trump does not excuse her bigotry or erase her support for torture.”
Liz Cheney worked in the State Department during the Bush administration and spent years defending its policies, according to the press release.

Vic – The Mets cried like babies a few years ago when they lost a tiebreaker to the Braves and had to host a wildcard round – in which they were swept at home. I think the Mets expect to be loved because they are from New York City. The organization hates its fans and made Citi Field almost inaccessible in under 1 1/2 hours unless you live in Queens.
I think the Mets are similar to the 2022 Phillies but I hope the Mets run ends very soon.

LMAO, its honestly a great way to learn. The other day the little one starting singing Ale Les blu (in french) and Im like whattttt. He kept listening to it over and over again and then learned the words.

Hoskins is a hero in Philadelphia for his “bat spike” after his homerun against the Braves in the 2022 NLDS. I think that the Phillies would have won the WS last year if he was playing but he actually missed the entire season with a leg injury he sustained running off the field in the last spring training game. Complete freak accident. There was no place for him to play when Harper moved to 1st base following his arm surgery. Hoskins would be a good DH here but Schwarber has that spot (his defense in left field was an adventure).
I don’t think I will be going to any games this series. My wife is a huge fan but won’t pay a total of $800 for 2 tickets. Mets fans drove up the price because it is easier to get to Philadelphia than Citi field for many of them.

I agree with much of this @ElbridgeColby and your concern that we are not taking the threat in Taiwan seriously. But you are wrong about Ukraine damaging our readiness. If anything Ukraine aid is revitalizing our defense industrial base. Some concrete examples:
90% of Ukraine aid money is not going to Ukraine but is being spent here in the United States, creating US manufacturing jobs and hot production lines for U.S. weapons systems. At AEI We identified 122 defense production lines in 65 congressional districts across the country that directly benefit American workers.
MODERIZING OUR MILITARY: Most of the weapons being produced are not going to Ukraine. We are sending older versions of the weapons to Kyiv from our stockpiles and replacing them with brand-new, more advanced versions — thus using Ukraine aid money to modernize our military.
STINGER MISSILES: The United States had not built a single new Stinger missile since 2005. The Pentagon signed a $624.6 million contract last year to build Stinger missiles in Tucson, to replace about 1,400 sent to Ukraine. Without Ukraine aid, the Stinger production line would have remained dormant.
155MM SHELLS: Before Congress approved Ukraine aid, the United States was producing fewer than 15,000 shells per month. Thanks to Ukraine aid, the Pentagon is spending $1.5 billion to boost production by 500 percent and is on pace to reach 100,000 per month.
PATRIOT AIR DEFENSES: In 2018, the United States was building PAC-3 Patriot aerial-attack interceptors at an anemic rate of 350 a year. The Ukraine aid package includes $1.5 billion to increase production to 650 a year.
BOTTOM LINE: Our military aid to Ukraine is revitalizing manufacturing communities across the United States, creating good jobs here at home and restoring the United States’ capacity to produce weapons for our national defense.
So I share your concerns on Taiwan but Ukraine is not a drag on our readiness—quite the opposite our support is turning cold production lines into hot ones and providing back door funding that is modernizing our military capabilities for other conflicts — money that could otherwise not be there.

GOP slipped a bit in the updated totals in Virginia, the lead from the four GOP leaning districts against the five DEM leaning districts dropped from 26743 to 23339, as it seems that district 9, the furthest west, seems to be lagging behind now. But still the results coming in from the Dem stronghold of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, and Newport News, is lagging way behind.

Interesting tidbits I’ve heard in the last 24 hours….
The IBT’s refused to endorse because an internal vote released had Trump winning approximately 60% to Harris’ 34%….someone on tv last night mentioned that the vote was eerily similiar with the International Association of Fire Fighters…another ‘canary in the coal mine’?
Then on another interview a person was talking about the rust belt blue wall (Pa, Michigan, and Wisconsin) and the statement that Rep. Slotking said that Harris was ‘underwater’ in this state to which the interviewee corrected the interviewer and states, as in plural, but that’s all this person elaborated on.
