Any Saturday Polls?

VIRGINIA EARLY VOTE:

I meant to add this chart yesterday, but time got away from me. Here you can see what the pundits have been crowing about in Virginia. You can also easily see the problem for Republicans in Virginia. There are two swing districts, 2 and 7, but the GOP as a whole has an uphill climb. But as you can see from the early vote so far, the GOP leaning congressional districts total more votes than the DEM leaning districts.

  8. In I think 1989, long before I was served in the WV legislature, there was a devastating flood in the highland region of various WV counties 100 miles west of me including Hardy county WV in the Moorefield/Petersburg area . Fifteen inches of rain in just a few hours. The rivers and stream got crazy quickly. I had a number of relatives living in Moorefield and went to help there and bring a car load of shovels, Clorox and other cleaning supplies, clothes, etc. in the recovery efforts immediately after and to shovel and muck river mud out of the basement of one of my relatives homes. It was heartbreaking to see the damage in an area I had visited often.

After I was no longer in the legislature, I did a lot of volunteer work involved in raising relief supplies locally to two other areas of WV that were hit by devastating floods due to massive amount of rain I a short time. I lost track of how many tractor trailer loads of supplies, water, food, etc. etc. that we collected here to go to those two other areas in southern WV. I think it was close to 10 truckloads. We had local food business owners here who took their entire operation to Clendidin, WV (Kanawha County). and provided food (free) to residents and recovery workers for about a month. A friend of mine and her dad gave me a tour of the area afterward and provided details. Homes, banks, business, schools, bridges and roads destroyed. Heart wrenching.

These floods in NC–in areas I have enjoyed visiting over the years–including a trip to Asheville, NC just last year.–are heartbreaking to me. Asheville is now complete inaccessible by land. Even interstate highways washed out or blocked by landslides. Over 50 people had to be recused from the roof of the hospital there.

    Please pray for these folks.

When my parents house flooded due to Harvey hovering over Houston for a week, it was heartbreaking knowing that all these memories of my childhood were gone.

But, the whole area came together. There were people from all over Texas and Louisiana who can to assist. They brought their boats and their hands.

In my parents neighborhood, I saw no one from the government to assist. It was just Americans helping each other.

BREAKING: North Carolina’s state election board has removed 747,000 ineligible voters from its rolls over the past twenty months, representing about 10% of all registrations. Removals were because voters died, failed to vote the last two cycles, moved out of state, committed felonies, or changed addresses without re-registering. This is a HUGE win in a must-win state. Keeping elections fair means aggressively updating the voter rolls to remove invalid voters. Unsurprisingly, it’s always Democrats who want to keep these updates from happening.

The core of Ukraine’s victory plan relies on long range strikes using NATO guided missiles and acceptance into NATO.  Both factors at this stage would cause WWIII.

Ukraine’s chest beating is the national equivalent of “short man’s syndrome.”  That said, Zelensky would not be making these kinds of demands if he was not being encouraged by someone behind the scenes.  Many officials within the US and Europe have given Zelensky delusions of grandeur about his chances, perhaps because they want the war to grind on forever.  These same officials have hinted consistently that they will not accept a Ukrainian loss.

Regardless of what side people think should win, the fact is that Russia is the inevitable victor according to all the evidence on hand.  While the extent of Putin’s goals in the region are unknown, it’s unlikely that he intends to march beyond Ukraine.  He may simply stop at the edge of the Donbas and annex the region like he did Crimea.”

Janzam calls her hero leader and icon Putin a liar?

“Putin has made clear, as he stated more than a decade and a half ago, that “the collapse of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century” and that he is committed to reestablishing Russia’s greatness and dominant role in world politics. Thus, Russian policy toward its near neighbors under Putin is committed to de facto reestablishing the former Soviet Union – or Greater Russia. Russian wars or virtual wars with Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine – since 2014, but especially now since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 – have all had at least one objective – extending Moscow’s political and economic control over former Soviet territory. In the following pages we shall track this process, which is the attempted reconstruction of “Greater Russia,” or Russian expansion and has led to the brutal Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Russia’s murderous, and unprovoked invasion and systematic destruction of Ukraine beginning in late February 2022 is part of Russian president Vladimir Putin’s attempt to fulfill his commitment to recreate the former Soviet Union or, to put it differently, to push forward the construction of “Greater Russia.” Putin has made clear, as he stated more than a decade and a half ago, that “the collapse of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century”2 and that he is committed to reestablishing Russia’s greatness and dominant role in world politics. He termed the end of the USSR as the demise of “historical Russia” and source of the major economic crisis that followed. “It was a disintegration of historical Russia under the name of the Soviet Union,” Putin said of the 1991 breakup. “We turned into a completely different country. And what had been built up over 1,000 years was largely lost,” he asserted, noting that 25 million Russian people now found themselves in newly independent countries cut off from Russia, part of “a major humanitarian tragedy”

If this happens there’s no way we can be considered only participating as Ukraine’s proxy. Instead we will be seen as an adversary directly going to war with Russia. Is that what we want to do at this time, with the ME blowing up having a huge number of our assets deployed there? Then there is the uncertainty of China’s intentions to annex Taiwan. In the meantime, we have been giving away munitions that take time to replace, with a military force having problems meeting their own recruitment quotas.

I find there is so much more to think about before we get involved with further aggressive actions in a war mired down by controversial and/or unsubstantiated info, propaganda, news, or even accurate audits where all our aid is going. Then we have the quality of leadership (Biden/Harris) who are empowered to handle the overload of a world ready to embark on WWIII, with the possibility of just one knee jerk response that some say will never happen – Russia with China, Iran and N Korea having formed an alliance (because of our attention to Ukraine) doing something stupid like using a nuke.
