  20. I guess Walz is not even that popular in MN.

“Only 52% of Minnesota voters see him as an excellent or good choice, with 12% saying he’s a fair selection, and a staggering 34% saying he’s a poor pick,” reports the New York Post. “Walz is underwater with men, with 49% approving of his selection and 50% opposing it. About 40% of male respondents called him a poor choice of running mate.”

Voters under the age of 35, a key demographic Harris needs in November, also aren’t enthusiastic: 49% called Walz an excellent or good pick; the other 51% regarded him unfavorably. These voters make up 25% of the anticipated November electorate.

Walz is also one percentage point underwater with parents, with 48% regarding him favorably and 49% panning the pick. Among people with children, 35% say he was a poor selection.

A dramatic urban/rural divide also appears on this question, with 38% of rural residents approving of the pick, compared to 59% of those in the suburbs and 61% of those in urban areas.

While 59% of Twin Cities residents rate the selection as excellent or good, only 48% of those in northeast Minnesota, 46% of those in western Minnesota, and 35% of those in southwestern Minnesota make the same claim.”

It specifically addresses his “moderate” status.

It says “Bob Casey has changed”. It says while Casey originally ran as a moderate, he now votes with the extreme left 99% of the time.

This is exactly the right strategy to run against Casey. The only reason he is ahead of McCormick is because some voters still think he is a moderate. Convincing them otherwise is key.

So Vic, with your knowledge of the armament industry, is this true, there are only a finite number of ATACMS in US inventories. I’ve also heard the same thing about a shortage of ammunition too. What about our ability to refill these low inventories in a timely matter should we need them? I also read Ukraine is nearing the ability to produce and even export weaponry of its own. What do you know about that?

  29. I also read Ukraine is nearing the ability to produce and even export weaponry of its own.

Good. I hope they produce a lot of weapons to use against Russians. Not sure why they would produce weapons for export unless the sale funds purchase/production of other weapons. Of course, Jan did not cite a source so it might be just another “Zelensky owns 2 yachts” type story.

  30. Yeah, “according to US official” sounds like BS.

Of course the US should continue to provide Ukraine with the ATACMS because they are doing some real damage.

They then consolidated all of those companies, which included aircraft and helicopter manufacturing, into one company. They are a massive producers of military equipment.

The reason I do come back to HHR is because of my longevity here, and the familiarity with regulars who have also posted a long time here. However, the childish zings, having absolutely no merit or basis, are ruining this blog to the point where it’s limiting the traffic to mainly one or two prolific posters who post the most bottom-feeder remarks. Without DW’s polling, Marvin graciously dropping by, Walt’s jokes, Vic’s analytics, and Tina’s veracity and nicknames there is little else to attract. I miss people like Chicon and MG, who at least offered some diverse POVs, and hope they will return despite how old the over-indulgent mocking here can get to be.

  38. I concur with Jan that the ridiculous, constant mocking is hurting bringing new posters and alienating some of the older ones.

However, this is nothing new…it has always been a part of HHR, almost from the beginning. The reason why it appears like it is all this place has become is because we used to have more regular contributors who posted polls and political insights and their presence made the blog seem more balanced.

This is the new normal at HHR. While I do not like it, I never did. I check in solely to see what, if any, new polls are posted. After I learned appealing to the better natures of some of the so called “A-holes” to quit the attacks, I realized that HHR has been the place they get to express themselves and is really the only reason why they post here. Folks, including Jan, just need to ignore the childishness and enjoy the very good parts of HHR or move on. Because those “A-holes” are NOT changing. It is who they are.

    In my opinion.

It appears Allred’s strategy is to drive black turnout for the win.
That appears to be one of Harris’s strategies too. I don’t think it will be enough.
It’ll be interesting if Trump’s appeal with black men cuts into Allred’s numbers.
