Contrary to what Bitter thinks, none of this has anything to do with “Trump hatred” or any single issue like abortion and everything to do with ideology.
America up until the early 2000’s was “center right”. At the time only about 20% identified as liberal, about half of the conservative identification. When politicians were called “liberal”, they tried to deny it. No mainstream politician went on TV and said “I am a liberal” unless it was somebody on the extreme like Dennis Kucinich. Liberals like George McGovern and Fritz Mondale and even Bill Clinton did not run as such. In 2008 Obama ran as “non-partisan”, “post-partisan” not as a liberal. Even Joe Biden ran as a moderate Scranton Joe. Kamala Harris is actually the first mainstream nominee to openly run as a full blown liberal. She is not hiding the agenda, nobody really believes she changed her mind on fracking or open borders.
She is doing this because she thinks liberals finally are the majority in enough states to win. The party nominated her for the same reason.
It is a gamble that may or may not pay off, but it is where we are.
This is what America is voting on. That is why I am skeptical on whether a “nice Trump” or “mean Trump” makes any difference.
In my view, Trump and Kamala are along for the ride. Kamala has put forth her vision
Abortion
“Voting rights”
DC and PR statehood
Pack SC
New “infrastructure”
Medicare for all
Green Deal
Amnesty and citizenship for illegals
Higher taxes
More regulation
Trump has put forth his vision
Economic isolationism
Foreign policy isolationism
Crony capitalism
Energy independence
Conservative judiciary
War on wokeness
Lower taxes
Less regulation
At the end the day, the vast majority of people will be choosing the agenda, not the person. The people who are voting on the person are a small minority on each end of the spectrum.
Paul – Why? Trump was loved by Democrats and Planned Parenthood. Dem celebrities loved him. He would have just kept his Dem policies. He is not and has never been a conservative.
His stupid tariffs and trade policies are not conservative, they are the failed agenda of the ultra liberal AFL-CIO.
His big spending bills are not conservative, did you ever hear a conservative say “deficits don’t matter, you can always just print more money”?
His failure to understand America’s interests abroad while mouthing cheap slogans like “pay your fair share” is not conservative, the Dems are the traditional isolationists on foreign policy.
Trump’s “conservative” instincts only kick in when it benefits. He wants conservative judges, and he wants lower taxes, lower energy prices, etc. because he views these things as politically beneficial.
Trump is on record as saying as late as 2004 that the “Dems are better for the economy”.
May 2017: Trump told Malcolm Turnbull, the Australian prime minister, that “you have better health care than we do.” (Australia has a single-payer system.)
January 2017: “We’re going to have insurance for everybody,”
September 2015: “Everybody’s got to be covered … I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not.”
2000: “I’m a conservative on most issues but a liberal on health … We must take care of our own. We must have universal healthcare.”
Pelley: Universal health care.
Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of no
You keep railing about Trump not being a conservative. However, how he portrays himself is having conservative policies but an agenda ruled by “common sense.” In fact he often says his party is “the party of common sense,” which strays from the ideology often seen in either of the mainstream political parties.
In fact he often says his party is “the party of common sense,” which strays from the ideology often seen in either of the mainstream political parties.”
I see.
So you admit he “strays from conservatism”
This is true.
It is also true he was never a conservative to begin with.
Sen. @JDVance just wrecked Kamala Harris for her failure as Border Czar after NBC tried running cover for her
NBC: “She was put in charge of the root causes of migration.” JD: “Well, the root causes of migration…is that Kamala Harris refuses to do her job as Border Czar.”
The problem is Tina thinks ‘conservatism” is isolationism and crony capitalism.
Conservatives believe in limited government, free trade, free markets, free enterprise, personal responsibility and an America that protects its interest no matter where it is.
Trump believes in NONE of that.
But I understand that Tina and Janzam, who don’t even know what conservatism is, think Trump is a conservative.
Limited government, Yeah bush is a conservative. Dept of education was his pet as was pimping illegals, and the stupid wad in Iraq, which we are paying for now since it is now a proxy of the mullahs.
Tina is right, as usual, that Trump’s actionable policies were far more “conservative” than Bush. His regulation ratio was something like deleting 12 regulations for every new one enacted. He took more deliberate action on rectifying the VA’s quality of care; made the US more energy independent; selected jurists who removed Roe vs Wade; created the “right to try act” giving people the latitude to individuate their own health choices; incentivized manufacturing here as well as more small business creation; initiated the removal of CRT from the military and school curriculum (Biden then reinstated it): addressed illegal crossings at the border etc. etc….far more conservative achievements than any Bush presidency did.
A Michigan poll sponsored by American Greatness has Harris leading 48-46, and 46-45-5 (taken Aug. 20-22, before RFK Jr. dropped out). This is an interesting nugget from the summary:
“24% of Michigan voters say they are still deciding, and by an 8% margin, they say that their neighbors are voting for Trump over Harris, 44-36%.”
I take this to mean a lot of votes are still up for grabs and that, as we saw consistently in 2016 and 2020, Trump’s support is likely understated.
Iraq’s strong rule kept Iran at bay, limiting its spread of terrorism. That’s why retroactively many analysts think we should NOT have gotten involved with that war. Initially, with Intel saying Saddam had WMDs, going in and taking him out seemed like a good idea. After the fact, though, with the Intel discredited, little was accomplished except to heighten ME instability. I think the same will be said, retroactively, about how we squelched early peace agreements between Putin and Zelensky, sending Boris Johnson and John Kerry over to sideline peace, getting the US into open, destructive warfare by proxy.
Tina is right, as usual, that Trump’s actionable policies were far more “conservative” than Bush.”
LOL
Janzam and Tina, who agree Putin is only second to God, but a close second, agree that Trump, an opportunist without a conservative bone in his body, is a conservative.
Trump falls into a lot of traps, but he dodged this one…
“During presidential campaigns, candidates are typically briefed by the nation’s security agencies on critical matters they could face if they win the election. However, this week former President Donald Trump announced that he would refuse to take part in these standard intelligence briefings for candidates.
And the reason is actually quite genius. He explained his decision by expressing concern that Democrats would leak classified information and then attempt to accuse him of being the source of the leaks.
In other words, Trump knew a trap was being set for him.
“I don’t want them, because, number one, I know what’s happening. It’s very easy to see what’s happening,” he told the Daily Mail. “We have an incompetent leader, and we have two incompetent leaders. We have a Marxist that’s going to try and be president, and this country is not ready for a Marxist or a communist president, and that’s what she is. She destroyed San Francisco, she destroyed California, and this country is not ready for it.”
Trump continued, “So, I don’t want the briefings because as soon as I get one, they’ll accuse me of leaking it. The best way to handle that is to avoid the briefing altogether. They come in, give you a briefing, and then two days later, they leak it and blame you.”
Recommended: The Kennedy Family at Large Is Trash
“The only way to solve that problem is not to take the briefing,” he added.”
Anyone who had any experience with Iraq before we went in knew it was the correct thing to do. It was the execution and lack of plan for after the fall that was the mistake. Rumsfeld held strong to this idea of a “light” army (which was a HUGE pain in the ass if you were serving, and in application in the field) which left us fully unprepared for what came after Sadaam fell.
Anyone who thinks there were no WMD there is uninformed and an idiot. Anyone who thinks Sadaam wasn’t unhinged and would have used what he possessed without warning is uninformed and an idiot.
We enjoyed the Ukrainian festival. We like to go to ethnic festivals where Americans celebrate their heritage – Greek, Italian, Polish and Irish are most common here. Not sure if there are any for the French but they probably wouldn’t let any outsiders in.
Birtherism, stupid as it is, was not created by Trump. It started way back in 2004, and it gained steam after Mark Penn suggested that HRC should campaign on Obama being born way out in Hawaiian and having an Indonesian stepfather, as though that would somehow paint him as foreign and un-American. She herself didn’t use that language, to her credit, but that’s where it came out of.
GF – GFY. Everybody knows that Obama was not born in Hawaii. He was chosen before birth to become President so the Hawaiian officials created a fake birth certificate. They then printed thousands of newspapers in Hawaii with his birth announcement knowing that decades latter (after the internet was invented by Al Gore) that Obama would have a cover story.
Trump stupidly believed it about Obama because he was a supporter of Hillary at that time. Never forget that Trump said Hillary would be a great President.
GF – Congratulations.
You have now joined Tina’s Free Passer Club. Of course, Tina gives free passes to Putin for his war crimes and Trump for really literally being a RINO.
Zzzzzzzzz. Tina knows that Biden, Obama, Clinton, and Carter all sucked but Gateway Pundit told her to hate GWB. Of course, like Wes, she probably voted for GWB twice before hating him.
Obvioulsy, I said his picture as a kid and tha was wrong. Well that was 2 years before he ran. He aged tremendously in office and aged even more since. In the article, he faults her Thighness, who was the original birther.
Why the hate for GWB. I admit he didn’t stand up to the Dems, he let them push him around adn talk all sorts of crap about him, but he was infinitely better than Obama, Biden, Carter, etc
will someone please let me know what LBJ did that was good? In my view he was downright awful. I get it, the Civil Rights Act, but the war on poverty was just a poverty increasing policy…what else??
economy under Bush was good for six of the eight years he was in office, and one of those bad ones was post 9/11. ’08 was because of the Dems demand that loans be given to anyone, no matter, no qualifying, creating the housing bubble.
We disagree on Iraq wholeheartedly
Meyers was a disaster. dont know who Brownie is, or Souter 2.0
Roberts has frustrated me at times, he often tries to appease liberals in order to appear centrist and fair, and was absolutely wrong on Obamacare, but hes 1000000XXXX better than anyone Gore or Kerry would have nominated.
Tina: He doesn’t praise the government. He’s interested in China as a social studies teacher. He hates the government that cracked down on Tiananmen Square. You can go FUCK YOURSELF with your lies.
Zzzzzzz You would have turned on Lagoa, too. You hate everybody.
Barrett, Catholic mother of 7 (including adopted minority children) is a solid conservative. Tina hates her because she did not go to Gateway Pundit law school.
Brown was Bush’s FEMA guy in charge of relief for the Louisiana flood. The phrase “Good job Brownie” is infamous after Brown botched up the relief plan.
While I don’t hate Bush, having voted for him twice, I think his Iraq policies were unduly influenced by the need to finish up his father’s early pull-out of Kuwait, and the threats against his dad’s life. In hindsight, I think we would have been served better by other means than war to engage in Iraq. This also holds true for Ukraine and our proxy war with Russia. Unfortunately Jason embellishes, much like Harris does, in mischaracterizing those of us who question the zeal for never ending wars that could have been resolved in a less destructive, costly way.
The Republican attack on Tim Walz over Tiananmen Square is almost unbelievable
Ron Johnson accidentally demonstrates why Tim Walz would be well-suited for the vice presidency.
LOL: In an interview this week with Fox Business, Johnson warned that Walz is a “radical leftist” and made the case by pointing out what he called Walz’s “strange” relationship with China. “He got married on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square. He’s gone to China. He’s taught in China. He’s got deep connections to China,” Johnson said in the interview.
Because one gets married on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square to show your devotion to the CCP. LOL.
So, I’d really encourage TRUMP to go after Walz for his love of China. AND go after Harris for her slave owner ancestry. THOSE ARE WINNERS!!!! Go TRUMP. GO!!!
Apologies for my Vance comment. I salute Vance’s service. Way more than most of us have done. and I salute Walz’ service. Also way more than most of us have done.
RFK Jr. “I’m gonna be campaigning actively. President Trump is going to make a series of announcements about other democrats who are joining his campaign.” “I wanna make America healthy again and so does President Trump.”
It appears a genuine coalition may be forming of disaffected Dems and the Trump campaign. It’s loosely being termed “The Unity Party,” because it seems to be unifying factions rather than dividing them against the far left Harris/Walz agenda.
I was with thousands of people today who would have ripped Jan for being clueless on Putin’s brutal murder of Ukrainians. Proud Ukrainians
as well as naturalized Americans.
As usual, Bitter, my comments centered around the destruction of a country and how much it has cost us to fund their war – now upwards of $200 billion, by some people’s estimates, that could have been deservedly used in our own communities, and for our own national defense. There has also been brutality committed towards both Ukrainian and Russian soldiers and civilians. Does God separate out one from the other in calling out tragedy and death?
Jan again lies. Not $1 spent on military aid to Ukraine would or could have been spent in the U.S. for reasons. First, Biden would not spend it here. Second, almost all of it is military aid.
third, the money spent on that military hardware went to US manufacturers, who paid taxes on their earnings, and hired tens of thousands of workers, if not more, to manufacture the weapons.
fourth, Ukraine didn’t start the war, Russia invaded it. It’s not a proxy war by any definition of the phrase. A proxy war involves operating full scale military operations in a third country against manpower from a fourth country.
This is hardly a proxy war when the US military might is not being used at all. Old weapons that are mostly surplus, and sitting in other countries already having been allocated to those countries, has been used.

Why the hate for GWB. I admit he didn’t stand up to the Dems, he let them push him around adn talk all sorts of crap about him, but he was infinitely better than Obama, Biden, Carter, etc

economy under Bush was good for six of the eight years he was in office, and one of those bad ones was post 9/11. ’08 was because of the Dems demand that loans be given to anyone, no matter, no qualifying, creating the housing bubble.

LOL.
